      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, April 17, 2003 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Edna W. Hatton, Teacher, Grocery Manager - Edna Weisenburger Hatton, 91, Pillsbury Manor, South Burlington, Vermont, formerly of Pulaski, died March 16 at home. Mrs. Hatton taught school for eight grades in a one-room schoolhouse on Lamb Road before her marriage. She later managed a grocery store in Pulaski and then worked at the Red & White Store for many years. After her retirement at age 70, she volunteered for RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) at the Trash & Treasure Shop for more than 10 years. She was a member of Park United Methodist Church and a three- time past president and honored member of the. American Legion Auxiliary, Robert Edwards Post. She was a past noble grand of the Rising Sun Rebekah Lodge and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed small-town life and Lake Ontario. She was born in Maquoketa, Iowa, daughter of Adam and Kathryn Frommer Weisenburger, Geimans who came to the United States from czarist Russia. The family moved to Pulaski, where she spent most of her life. She was a graduate of Pulaski Academy and a 1930 graduate of the Pulaski Teachers Training Class. She married Alexander M. Hatton, a native of Belfast, Ireland, on August 21, 1933, in the First Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. John W. Warren officiating. He died January 9, 1975. Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Kay Hatton Ryder and Dr. Richard Ryder, Shelburne, Vermont, three grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. A sister, Della Whittle, and five brothers, Carl, Emil, Alfred, Walter and Woodrow Weisenburger, died before her. A funeral was held at Pillsbury Manor. There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home. Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery. A calling hour will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
