John T. LaFave Sr., 83, of 4232 Edgewood Drive, Parish, formerly of Pulaski, died Thursday in Oswego Hospital after a short illness.
The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, and 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church. Burial will be in All Saints Chapel Mausoleum, Oswego.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Northern Oswego County Ambulance Fund, Pulaski, or the McFee Ambulance Service, Mexico.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy R.; a son John T. Jr., Pulaski; a daughter, Patricia Peck, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson, and three sisters, Louise Rowe and Florence Filbert, both of Oswego, and Alice Quimbey, Syracuse.
Born in Oswego on Feb. 17, 1906, a son of Peter and Julia Drulliet LaFave, he attended Oswego High School and Utica College and was later graduated from Oswego Normal School.
He married Dorothy R. Baker Oct. 2, 1930.
Mr. LaFave was employed by the Ebert Motor Car Co. in Oswego before teaching for the Armed Forces during World War II. He later taught at Corning Free Academy for 10 years and at Utica Free Academy for 20 years, retiring in 1971.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church and a former member of the board of education of Pulaski Academy and High School. He was a member of the New York State Trotters Association, the New York State Breeders Association and the New York State and Utica Teachers Associations.
