- Newspaper Obituary - March 4, 1995 Syracuse Herald Journal - Syracuse, New York - GERTRUDE P. CASTETTER - Gertrude P. Castetter, 92, of Spring Brook Apartments, died Thursday at A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital in Fulton. Born in North Osceola, she graduated from Pulaski Academy High School and moved to Pontiac, Mich., where she worked for Detroit Creamery. In 1953, she moved to Syracuse, where she worked for Byrne Dairy until 1965, when she retired and moved to Pulaski. She was married to Francis Hort, who died in 1977, and to Virgil Castetter, who died in 1946. She was a member of St. John's the Evangelist Church, the Pulaski Grange, Silver Crest Rebecca Lodge in Mexico and Theater ala Carte in Syracuse. Surviving are two sons, William Hort of Pulaski and George A. Castetter of Fulton; a brother, Orin Colvin of Denver; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Church. Spring burial will be in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery, Parish. Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m Sunday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 7385 Park St.

Gertrude P. Castetter, 92, of Springbrook Apartments, died Thursday at Oswego Hospital.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Church with the Rev. Anthony Keeffe, pastor, officiating. Spring burial will be in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery, Parish.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Surviving are two sons, William Hort, Pulaski, and George A. Hort, Fulton; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Orin Colvin, Denver, Colo.
A brother, Lynn "Zeke" Colvin, and a sister, Lucy E. Morse, died before her.
Born July 19, 1902, in the town of Osceola, a daughter of William and Marsha Clemons Colvin, she graduated from Pulaski Academy High School in 1918.
She married Virgil Castetter in 1940. Mr. Castetter died in 1946.
A previous marriage to Francis T. Hort in 1920 ended in divorce.
Mrs. Castetter was employed by Detroit Creamery until 1953, when she moved to Syracuse. She was employed by Byrne Dairy in Syracuse until retiring in 1965, when she moved to Pulaski.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, the Pulaski Grange, Silver Crest Rebekah Lodge, Mexico, and Theatre a la Carte, Syracuse.
