- H. A. Obrist, formerly
of Altmar, dies
Herman A. Obrist, 84, of 1005 Green St., Utica, died on Thursday, March 31 in Saxton [sic; Faxton] Hospital, after a brief illness.
Mr. Obrist was born in 1892 in Altmar, the son of John and Mary Wernly Obrist. He attended schools in Altmar, Oswego and Syracuse and married Olive Leona Redner in 1916 at Utica.
Mr. Obrist was employed as a tool maker and was a foreman for 35 years with the Bossert Manufacturing Company from which he retired in the late 1950's.
A member and trustee of the Fayre Memorial Presbyterian Church of Utica, he was also a member and past treasurer of the Greenfield Fish and Game Club.
Surviving besides his wife are one daughter, Mrs. George (Lois) Odell of Utica and several relatives from the Pulaski and Altmar areas.
Funeral services were held on April 2 at 11:30 a.m. at the John S. Friedel Funeral Home, Utica. Burial was in the Forest Hill Cemetery at Utica.
