      March 30, 2012

      David C. Phillips, 68, formerly of Parish, passed away Friday, March 30, 2012 in the Francis House of Syracuse after a difficult battle with cancer. He was born September 13, 1943 in Syracuse to Arla (Spicer) Phillips, of Sunrise Nursing Home, Oswego, and the late Milton Phillips, both formerly of Parish.

      In addition to his mother, David is survived by his six children; son, David Phillips and wife, Claire of South Point, OH, son, George Phillips and wife, Noreen of Mexico, NY, son, Jamie Phillips and wife, Gloria of Sanford, NC, daughter, Lucinda Garrett and husband, Christopher of Palmyra, VA, son, Nickolas Phillips of Parish, NY, and daughter, Kari Phillips. David is also survived by seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three brothers, George Phillips of Parish, Dale Phillips of Gouverneur, and Gary Phillips of Pulaski.

      Much of David's life was devoted to serving others in the community through his love of Christ and his music ministry.

      At his request, a memorial service will be held in the spring for David's family and friends.

      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Francis House at 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208; or to his church, the Kingdom Outpost in Clay, NY.
