Marlyn B. Petrucelli, 81, formerly of Watertown and Carthage, died Thursday in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Mrs. Petrucelli taught vocal music and kindergarten in the Carthage Central School system for 31 years, retiring in 1981.
Born Sept. 25, 1926, in Watertown, daughter of Walter G. and Gladys M. Fox Benedict, she graduated in 1944 from Pulaski Academy.
She received a bachelor of science degree from Crane School of Music, Potsdam, in 1949 and a master's degree in education from Potsdam State Teachers College.
She married Thomas R. Petrucelli on July 6, 1952, at the Church of the Resurrection, Rye. Mr. Petrucelli was a music teacher at Carthage Central School for 28 years, retiring in 1979. The couple spent 27 summers at "The Elms" on Henderson Bay and moved to Florida in 1990 Mr. Petrucelli died Oct. 2, 2004.
Mrs. Petrucelli was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association and a former communicant of St. James Catholic Church, Carthage.
Surviving are a sister, Beverly McAvoy, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Emma Louise Dolan and Hazel Benedict, died before her.
A spring graveside service will be in Sulphur Springs Cemetery, town of Hounsfield. Arrangements are with Reed & Benoit Funeral Home.
