- September 12, 2005 Karen LaCelle Cole, age 58, of Cazenovia, died Monday in Cazenovia. She was born on April 24, 1947, in Syracuse, the daughter of James W. and Anna Crandall LaCelle. She has resided in Cazenovia for the past two years, previously living in Penn Yan, Cuba and Friendship, NY. She graduated from Sandy Creek Central School in 1965 as Salutatorian, receiving a Hilton Scholarship. She graduated from Syracuse University in 1969 with a degree in library science. She was employed by Cazenovia College as a librarian for the past two years and was also employed by Keuka College as a grant researcher for several years, Hobart, Colgate, and Syracuse Universities. Surviving are one brother, James E. LaCelle of Mexico; one sister, Barbara Ward of Hagerstown, MD; stepmother, M. Joyce LaCelle of Redfield; two stepsisters, Sally and Deborah Monteith of Redfield; one uncle, Gerald "Bun" LaCelle of Altmar; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek. Calling hours are 9:30 to 11 a.m. prior to service.
