Robert O. Boutell

Robert O. Boutell, 78, of Brewerton, NY passed away May 29, 2013 at his home after a long illness. Robert was born September 15, 1934 in Richland, NY the son of Dayton and Rowena Fox Boutell. After attending Mexico Academy and Central Schools, he served in the US Air force from 1954-1962. Following his discharge, he served in the Air National Guard. Robert married his wife Sharon Coy on March 4, 1963 in Colorado. Sharon predeceased Robert on December 22, 2011. Robert was self-employed and owned Bob's Saddle & Tack Shop in Brewerton. Robert also worked as a carpenter out of the Local Union 277. In addition to leatherworking, Robert also enjoyed trap shooting, building wood strip canoes and basket weaving.
Robert is survived by a daughter, Peggy LaRue and Mark Bowman of Columbus, OH; a son, Robert II of Central Square, NY; three grandchildren, John Boutell of Chicago, IL, Hollyce Lunde of Chicago, IL and Cassandra Jackson of Rochester, NY; two great-grandchildren, Lily and Colin; and his canine companions, Linus and Lucy. He is also survived by three sisters, Eva Ireland of Newark, NY, Theresa Darling of Parish, NY and Bonnie Boutell of Mexico, NY. Robert was predeceased by four sisters, Doris Mowers, Ada Jean White, Claudia Richardson Richmond, Kay Boutell; and a brother, Walter (Butch) Boutell.
Calling hours will be Monday, June 3, 2013 from 4 to 6 p.m. with the services to follow at 6 p.m. at the Watson Funeral Home, 631 South Main Street, Central Square, NY 13036.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Brewerton Fire Department, Brewerton, NY 13029.
