~0bit~Mary Fitts, daughter of Isaac and Sevier Fitts, was born in Rochester, New York, April 24, 1835. At the age of two months her parents left there, and after a four month trip on the lakes, they arrived at Chicago, Illinois, and soon removed to Dundee, Illinois, where she grew to womanhood. On January 1, 1862, she was united in marriage to Edwin B. Fisher. In 1865 they came to Iowa where she lived until eight years ago, when she went to Akron, Ohio, to live with her daughter, Nellie, and here she passed away October 17, 1923, aged 88 years 6 months and 23 days. Her husband preceded her to the better land nineteen years ago and one son, Clarence, passed away two years ago. She leaves to mourn the loss of a loving mother, seven children, Mrs. Alice Hall, of Ladysmith, Wisconsin; Mrs. Alida Baty, Walker, Iowa; Charles Fisher of Ladysmith, Wisconsin; Edwin Bice Fisher of Troy Mills, Iowa; Alfred Fisher of Ladysmith, Wisconsin; Frank Fisher of Miller, South Dakota and Nellie Fisher, of Akron, Ohio. Besides her children she leaves 29 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Mrs. Fisher united with the Methodist Protestant Church years ago, and on moving to Walker united with the Presbyterian Church. When she moved to Akron, she united with the Trinity Reformed and remained a consistent member until her death. All who knew Mrs. Fisher testify that she lived a truly consistent Christian life. She always made the best of situations and wherever she was she inspired others to a life of beauty, joy and service. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, October 20th, from the home of her son, Mr. Edwin B. Fisher, at Troy Mills, and then from the Methodist Church. Interment took place in Troy Mills Cemetery. Mr. Edwards of Walker directed the funeral. Rev. Louis Kvetensky of Walker officiated.
