Newspaper Obituary - Friday, November 20, 1964 The Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Dies at Wheel Of Auto After Heart Attack - Pulaski - William H. Briggs, 58, died Thursday afternoon while driving alone Route 81 in the Town of Parish, just north of Route 126. Troopers T. E. Rindos, W. G. Doyle and E. J. Buli of the Pulaski state police substation investigates and reported that Briggs was traveling north on Route 81 with his wife, Bertha, as a passenger when he suddenly slumped over the wheel. The car left the road an traveled about 900 feet along the mall before coming to a stop. Briggs was pronounced dead of a heart attack by Dr. A. B. Thompson of Pulaski, serving as coroner's physician. Born September 8, 1906, in the Town of Boylston, he was the son of the late Hanford and Nellie Tennant Briggs. On September 12, 1931, he married Bertha Barclay of Daysville and they have resided for the past 14 years at the family home on the Atkinson Road, Pulaski. Mr. Briggs was a retired farmer and a retired employee of the New York Central railroad. Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Jackson (Margaret) Hagenbaugh of Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. David (Shirley) Hollis of Pulaski; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Thompson of Sandy Creek and Mrs. Charles Fortino of Syracuse, and three brothers, Claude, Carl and Charles, all of Syracuse. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Taylor funeral home here by the Rev. George M. Butler, pastor of the Trinity Methodist church, Oswego. Burial will be in Daysville cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
