Newspaper Article - Thursday, June 13, 1878 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Hymeneal - On Wednesday last Pulaski was the scene of the celebration of the nuptial ceremony by which Mr. Charles A. Peck, of Mexico, and Miss Nellie T. Clark, of this village, became “no more twain, but one flesh.” The event took place at five o'clock in the afternoon at the residence of the bride's father, Mr. James A. Clark, in the presence of a number of the friends of the contracting parties and their families, Rev. James Douglas performing the ceremony. The presents were elegant and profuse, and included, among other things, a fine silver tea service from the bride's father. The happy couple left Pulaski on the evening train amid the congratulations and felicitations of a host of friends. There intended trip will take in some of the Western and Southern states, and probably not terminate for a month or more. The Democrat hopes that the union so auspiciously begun will be an unendingly happy one.

Just as the shades of evening were stealing across the sky Monday night, Charles A. Peck, one of Mexico's oldest and prominent citizens passed quietly into deaths calm and sweet repose. Born in this village August 10, 1855, Mr. Peck was the son of Henry C. and Margaret Augusta Allen Peck. His schooling was obtained in the local schools, and as a young man he entered the mercantile business of his father who prior to that time had carried on his business in partnership with Luther H. Conklin. This business firm of H. C. Peck and Son was operated in the Preston block where Floyd Leepy is now located. Soon after the death of his father which occured December, 1888, he became interested in the banking business. Though by nature quiet, yet he was active in many of Mexico's projects. He had much to do with the installation of the village water system, and helped to father the project for several years. For the past few years he had suffered physical ailments which finally confined him to his bed for the past few weeks. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nellie Clark Peck; one grandson, Charles A, Peck II of Mexico; one sister, Mrs. Mary Peck Wilson of Middletown. Another sister,Mrs. L. G, Ballard, died in August 1931, and the late Henry A. Peck, Syracuse University, was also a brother. Interment at Mexico Cemetery
