- Emogene S. Mowers, 82, of Rome, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at SUNY Health Science center, Syracuse, following a brief illness. She was born September 8, 1917, in Stanwix, a daughter of Maximillian and Leila Tanner Schaller. Emogene was a 1935 graduate of Rome Free Academy. On May 23, 1941, in Oneida, she married Charles Mowers. She was a parishioner of St. John's the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Emogene is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Charles, her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Donna Mowers of Bald Knob, AR., her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Gerald Glass of Clinton, her brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Isabelle Schaller of Westmoreland, her sister and brother-in-law, Leila and Ray Whitman of Rome, seven cherished grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Emogene was preceded in death by four of her brothers, Maxwell, Thomas "Fritz", Melvin, and Kenneth. Burial in Stanwix Cemetery.
