- Earl L. Yerdon, 84, of 27 Academy St., died Thursday at Samaritan-Keep Home, Watertown.
Mr. Yerdon worked for the Sandy Creek Central School District as a bus driver for 37 years and as a custodian for 20 years, retiring in 1977. He also plowed snow, tilled gardens and made maple syrup for many years.
Born June 29, 1912, in Redfield, son of Andrew and Clarisa Gibbs Yerdon, he had lived in Greenboro for 44 years and moved to Sandy Creek in 1957.
He married Florence White Nov. 28, 1936.
He was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Harwood "Satch," Sunrise, Fla.; two daughters, Lorraine, M. Rohrmoser, Sandy Creek, and Denise M. McDonald, Beverly Hills, Mich.; four brothers, Emery, Central Square, Harvey, Redfield, and Arnold and Victor, both of Phoenix; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. David Balcom officiating. Spring burial will be in Wesleyan Cemetery, Lacona.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to Sandy Creek Volunteer Fire Department or the Northern Oswego County Ambulance.
