- Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, August 11, 1948 Wilkes-Barre Record - Charles E. Sprake - Charles E. Sprake of Rochester, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, was laid at rest yesterday afternoon from the Luther M. Kniffen Funeral Home, 465 South Main Street. Rev. J. V. Lewis, retired Baptist minister, officiated. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery. Bearers were Stafford Lee, Alfred Kishbaugh, Richard Pierce, William Sprake Jr., Clifford Phillips and Lewis Davis.
Newspaper Obituary - Saturday, August 7, 1948 Wilkes-Barre Times Leader - Charles E. Sprake - A former Wilkes-Barre resident, Charles E. Sprake, 54, of Rochester, N. Y., died last night at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, following a short illness. He left Wilkes-Barre in 1943 to reside in Rochester. He was the son of the late John G. and Rachel Davis, former Hillside street residents. He was a member of Meade Street Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Theodore C. Baker, Wayne, O., and Mrs. Anthony J. LaBella, Rochester, with whom he resided; two brothers, William H. Sprake, of Erie; and George T. Davis of Wilkes-Barre; a sister, Mrs. Maurice C. Fetterman, Wilkes-Barre; and five grandchildren.

Survived by two daughters, Mrs. Anothony (Lois) Lo Bella of Summerville, and Mrs. Theodore C. (Betty) Baker of Wayne, Ohio; and two brothers, George Davis of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and William Sprake of Erie, Pa.; one sister, Mrs. Rachel Fetterman of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and five grandchildren. He was a member of the St. Paul Blvd. Vol. Firmen Ass'n. Friends may call at the M. J. Emma Son Funeral Home, 487 Lake Ave. (At Emerson St.) on Saturday from 3 p.m. until 11 p.m. Interment in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
