- Sandy Creek, NY- Paul Dana Stewart, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at Albany Medical Center on April 9, 2025. He was 89 years old.
Born on July 22, 1935, in Sandy Creek, NY, Paul was the son of the late George Dixon Stewart (d. 1957) and Mildred G. Dana (d. 1994). He graduated from the Mannsville School District in Mannsville, NY in 1954, where his love for sports began.
Paul was a lifelong sports enthusiast, finding joy in both playing and coaching basketball and baseball. He was also an accomplished bowler and pursued his passion for golf. His dedication to sports extended to his role as a devoted fan of Syracuse University sports and UConn women's basketball.
Throughout his career, Paul worked in the Pulaski, Sandy Creek, and Mexico, NY areas, contributing his skills to Blount Lumber, Deaton's Building & Home Center, and Moore's Lumber. In 2015, he retired and embraced his role as a full-time grandfather, relocating to Glenville, NY.
Paul cherished family gatherings, particularly those held in Rodman, NY, where he was always eager to connect with family and friends. His kindness and loving nature will forever be a part of those who knew him.
He is survived by his loving son, George Stewart, and daughter-in-law, Suzette Stewart, of Glenville, NY; his five grandsons, Collin (Rachelle), Caleb (Emma), Carter, Cameron, and Cayne Stewart; and his two step-granddaughters, Megan Matthews and Samantha (Joshua) Shannon. He was a proud great-grandfather to Jack and Eliza Shannon.
Paul is also survived by his brother, Peter Stewart, and his sisters, Mrs. Dave (Jane) Thomas, Mrs. Stanley (Diane) Cooley, Mrs. Ray (Sue) Fargo, and Mrs. Bill (Bonnie)
Barber. He was predeceased by his sister, Mrs. Dewey (Nancy) Roberts.
Paul will be remembered for his kind heart, his love of sports, and his unwavering dedication to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Burial will take place privately and at the convenience of the family.
