      Newspaper Obituary - (date and newspaper unavailable) - Pulaski, September 19 - Mrs. Nellie Perry Hicks, wife of John Melvin Hicks of 14 Delano street, died Wednesday evening at 5:30 o'clock at Ideal Rest Hospital, Orwell, following an operation for a ruptured appendix. Mrs. Hicks was taken ill last Thursday but her condition did not become serious until Sunday when she was taken to the Orwell hospital and an operation performed that evening. She seemed to rally but her condition became worse Tuesday. Mrs. Hicks was born in Fernwood, April 13, 1874, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Perry. She was a graduate of Pulaski Academy and the training class of the academy. For several years she taught the primary department in the Fernwood school. About 10 years ago the family moved to Pulaski. The deceased was a member of the First Methodist church, Pulaski, and of the Women's Civic Club. She was a former member of the Fernwood Methodist church, where she taught a Sunday school class and was active in the Ladies Aid Society. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. K. F. Curtis of Syracuse and Miss Vivian Hicks, teacher of the eighth grade, Central Square High school; one brother, Ernest Perry of Fernwood, and one grandson, Herbert Melvin Curtis. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the house, with Rev. John Warren, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Willis cemetery, Fernwood. The bearers will be nephews of the deceased, Ernest H. Dillenbeck of Pulaski, Virgil and Harold Tift of Sandy Creek, Charles Tilt of Burt and William Hicks of Rome.
