- Arnold A. Yerdon, 86, of Phoenix, died Sunday at Oswego Hospital. Born October 11, 1921, in Redfield, he was the son of Andy and Clarissa Gibbs Yerdon. He attended Redfield schools and married Helen M. Yerdon on September 2, 1949; she died February 8, 2008. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He was last employed by Northern Ready Mix in Fulton and owned and operated Arnold's Garage in Phoenix from 1950 to 1975. Arnold was a member of Phoenix Methodist Church, Phoenix VFW, Phoenix Lion's Club and operating Engineer Local #545 in Syracuse. Surviving: two daughters, Keitha (John) Murphy, Colleen (Ray) Allen; one brother, Victor Yerdon; and one grandson, Chad Murphy, all of Phoenix. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski, with spring burial in Greenboro Cemetery, Redfield. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., prior to the funeral service.
Arnold moved to Phoenix in 1950 and operated "Arnold's Garage" until 1975. He was a member of the Phoenix Methodist Church.
