Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, April 27, 1995 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Mexico Native Lena Austin Dies at Age 85 ¬Lena Austin, 85, former Mexico resident, died Wednesday at Sunrise Nursing Home, Oswego, after a long illness. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Clay officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. A calling hour will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Surviving are a daughter, Arlowyn J. Syler, Wakato, Washington; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Hall, Pulaski, and Grace Thompson, Fulton, and several nieces and nephews. Born August 24, 1909, in Mexico, a daughter of Jessie and Grace Wilmot Moot, she attended Mexico schools. She married Herbert H. Austin on June 25, 1927, at Mexico. Mr. Austin died on August 21, 1971. Mrs. Austin was employed for many years at General Electric Company, Syracuse, and was a member of Pulaski Chapter 159, Order of the Eastern Star.
