- Sylvester James Kundell - May 21, 1895 - August 27, 1975. Son of Frederick and Mary Kundell. Husband of Iva Belle Runge Kundell (married February 21, 1918, divorced) & Dorothy J. Durgee Caufield. [Note: Iva Runge Kundell died March 13, 1981 in Fulton, New York and is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery at Mallory, New York.]
Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, September 3, 1975 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - S. J. Kundell, Sandy Creek resident, dies - Sylvester J. Kundell, 80, Route 11, Sandy Creek, passed away August 27th at Oswego Hospital where he had been a patient three days. Born May 21, 1895 in Cohoes to Frederick and Mary Kundell, he attended school there. Around 1917, he married Iva Runge. He later married Dorothy Durgee Caufield in 1957 in Easton, Pennsylvania. He worked for the New York Central Railroad for 40 years at Three-Mile Bay, Woodard and Chaumont, moving to the Pulaski area around 1921 until his retirement from the Lacona station in 1960. He was a communicant of St John's the Evangelist Church and St. Francis Xavier Church Surviving are: his wife, Dorothy Durgee Caufield, Sandy Creek; one son, Edward, Richland; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several cousins. The funeral was 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Taylor-Vida Funeral Home and 10 am. in St. John's the Evangelist Church where a Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
