Newspaper Obituary - Monday, December 10, 1934 Oswego Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Pulaski December 10 - Word was received here Monday of the death of James Henry Tollerton, 83, formerly of Richland and Mexico. Mr. Tollerton died at his home in Cortland at or about 10 a.m. Monday. He had been ill since last March. Mr. Tollerton was born in the town of Richland, near Daysville, December 25, 1851, son of the late Henry and Joanna Manwarren Tollerton. He had been a successful farmer all his life and at one time owned and operated several farms in Daysville. He retired to live in Mexico 14 years ago, and 12 years ago went on to Cortland where he and Mrs. Tollerton made their home with their daughter, Edith Ray Tollerton, superintendent of Cortland schools. Mr. Tollerton was a member of Mexico Masonic lodge, Daysville Methodist church and grange, and an ardent Republican. He was superintendent of Richland highway department six years and served as Daysville postmaster in that hamlet. For several years he operated the farm now owned by Guy Salsbury. On December 24, 1879, Mr. Tollerton married the former Lida J. Calkins, who survives him. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary five years ago. Also surviving are the daughter, Edith; a foster-daughter, Mrs. Edna Rose Lindborg of Rye, and a sister, Mrs. Stella Hardie, of Daysville. Mr. Tollerton died on the birthday anniversary of his late brother, Charles Tollerton. Funeral services will be held at the home Wednesday at 2:30. The body will be placed in a vault and will be brought to Daysville in the spring for interment, Mrs. Hardie and several other relatives from Richland and Mexico will attend the services.
