- Opal Pearl Colvin Matthews - December 13, 1898 - October 15, 1984. Daughter of Arthur and Emma Jane Waggoner Colvin. Wife of Lucian Frank Matthews (married January 17, 1917) & Archie R. Cleveland (married November 11, 1960.) [Note: Archie Cleveland died February 25, 1972 in Watertown, New York on and is buried there in North Watertown Cemetery.]
Newspaper Obituary - Monday, October 29, 1984 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Mrs. Opal P. Cleveland, 85, of Springbrook Apartments, Pulaski, once a resident of Watertown, died Monday morning, October 15, 1984, at the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where she had been a patient since the 25th of September. Born in Lacona on December 13, 1898, a daughter of Arthur and Emma Waggoner Colvin, she attended the Pulaski Academy High school. She married Lucien Matthews in 1917. He died in May 12, 1954 at the age of 61. On November 11, 1960 she married Archie R. Cleveland. A one-time owner and operator of West Main Street grocery store in Watertown, he died February 25, 1972 at the age of 82. Mrs. Cleveland worked as a clerk in several local stores and was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Watertown and a 50-year member of the Rising Sun Rebekah Lodge of Pulaski. She is survived by sisters, Mrs. Dora C. Barr and Mrs. Gladys L. Calkins, both of Pulaski; and two nephews. Private services are scheduled at the convenience of the family, with Rev. Earl Smith, pastor of the Park United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Pulaski. Arrangements are with the Foster-Hax Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the Northern Oswego County Ambulance.
