Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, February 9, 1916 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - The death of Mr. Charles B. Hibbard, which occurred at his home in Sandy Creek, Sunday morning, was not unexpected as Mr. Hibbard had been in failing health for some time and had been confined to the house several weeks. Mr. Hibbard was born in the town of Sandy Creek sixty-eight years ago. When a young man he learned the jeweler's trade and in 1871 came to this town and opened a watch repair shop on the lower side of the river later removing to Jefferson street where he continued in business until 1908 when he sold his business to Mr. John C. Peach, and five years ago moved to Sandy Creek and opened a repair store. While a resident of Pulaski Mr. Hibbard made many friends. He was public spirited and took an interest in the Methodist church, of which he was a member and was concerned about the welfare of the school and village. He is survived by the widow and two daughters, Mrs. C. A. Potter, of Gowanda, New York, and Mrs. Herman VanHorne, of Sandy Creek. The funeral was held at the home in Sandy Creek yesterday at half-past ten and the remains were brought to Pulaski for burial in River Side Cemetery, on the Rome street road. The bearers who met the family and went to the cemetery from Pulaski were Messrs. F. G. Utley, L. J. Macy, F. G. Whitney, Frank Potter, J. W. Parkhurst and B. G. Seamans. Rev. A. P. Palmer conducted the burial service at the grave.
Newspaper Article - Thursday, February 17, 1916 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Hibbard Estate - Letters on the estate of Charles B. Hibbard, who died in Sandy Creek February 6, were asked in surrogate's court by Mary L. Hibbard, his widow. He left $5,000 personal and $2,000 real, all to the widow, except a $3,000 mortgage which she has the use of and of which is to go to a daughter, Carrie L Potter, of Collins, New York, at her death. The will says that another daughter, Cornelia H. VanHorn, is not mentioned because substantial advances have already been made her.
