Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, February 8, 1922 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Gone Home - Margaret McChesney was born at Selkirk, September 30, 1827, with the exception of four years spent in Westfield, New York, she lived here all her life. She was a daughter of James and Katherine McChesney and the last of eight children. At 23 years of age she was united in marriage with John B. Tifft with whom she lived until his death, 33 years ago. During the late war she knit sixteen pairs of socks for the Red Cross and said she thought she had done her bit. Her mind was good and she was able to be about the house until less than two weeks before her death, but she had been failing for two months past. She is survived by one son, Gerry H. Tifft and two daughters, Mrs. Katherine Weed, Mrs. Nina Allport; and three grandchildren, John W. Allport, Mrs. Katherine Sherman and Miss Margaret Allport. We shall miss her from the rocker, Where she quietly did rest, And her cheery words and smile, We loved very best; But we know she has gone, To that other shore, To meet the many loved ones, Who have gone before.
