      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, May 13, 1954 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Rites Friday for L. F. Matthews - Lucian F. Matthews, 61, well-known painter and decorator of Pulaski, died at the North Park Nursing Home Wednesday forenoon following a serious illness of less than a week. He had been in poor health for some time but had worked until stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage in the office of Dr. John L. H. Wilson last Thursday night. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. from the Foster Funeral Home with the Rev. James N. Pauley of the Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be made in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Foster home, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Opal Colvin Matthews, and two cousins, the Misses Grace and Bessie Matthews of Pulaski. Mr. Matthews was born in Brownsville, August 16, 1892, the son of Edson and Eva McCumber Matthews. He attended Brownsville school, coming to Pulaski in 1914, where he was employed at the Table factory, the Box shop and later the Charmalone Company as a cabinet maker and finisher. Late years he had engaged in painting and decorating. He married Miss Opal Colvin in 1917.
