(Note: Thomas F. Shannon died March 19, 1937 and is buried with his first wife in New Haven Cemetery, New Haven, New York.)
Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, September 12, 1940 Mexico Independent - Mexico, New York - Mrs. Ida Shannon Dies After Prolonged Illness - For the past 65 years a resident of New Haven township, Mrs. Ida Shannon died at her home near Demster Saturday after a long illness. She was 84 years of age. One of the community's most respected elderly residents, Mrs. Shannon had been active in the New Haven Grange before ill health prevented. She was born in the town of Richland in 1856, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hager. Surviving are a son, Alonzo Pettingill; a grandson, Glenn Pettingill, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon by the Rev. S. Foster Walker, pastor of the New Haven Methodist church. Bearers were, Daniel Fones, Leslie Hyde, Ward Tremaine and Floyd Lee. Burial was made in Daysville cemetery.
