Newspaper Obituary - January 20, 2003 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Shirley J. Sherman Retired Teacher - Shirley Jane Hyatt Sherman, 75, of 6862 Route 3, died Saturday at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse. Mrs. Sherman was a teacher for the Mexico and Split Rock school districts. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and was involved in many community groups. Born November 17, 1927, in Taunton, daughter of Lewis and Hazel Gaul Hyatt, she graduated from Split Rock High School in 1945 and received a degree in elementary education from Cortland State Teachers College in 1949. She married Harold G. Sherman on July 1, 1950, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Syracuse. Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Judy Perlet, Mexico, Jill Hauswirth, Liverpool, and Elizabeth Schickling, Pulaski; three sons, Richard, Mexico, John, Oswego, and Tom, Warners; a sister, Alda Geiger, Surprise, Arizona, and 13 grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Episcopal Church. Spring burial will be in Daysville Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street. Donations may be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 24 Lake Street, Pulaski, New York 13142.
