      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, January 6, 1956 The Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Pulaski - Mrs. Anna F. Calkins, 84, widow of Grant Calkins, died suddenly at her home in Port Ontario Wednesday. She had been in poor health for several years but was still able to be around and perform her household tasks. She was born January 3, 1872, at Port Ontario, in the house where she died, being the daughter of Samuel and Adelaide Cook Doane. She had always lived in that vicinity. In 1891 she was married to Grant Calkins, and they resided in Daysville until 1940, when they purchased the family homestead and moved into it. Mr. Calkins died in 1940. She was a member of the Pulaski Grange, Rising Sun Rebekah Lodge and the Celia Dewey Semans Encampment. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Mae) Hotchkiss; a grandson, John Hotchkiss, Chateguay, and two great-grandsons, also of Chateguay. The funeral will be at the Foster funeral home on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Russell Clark, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Daysville cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
