He had served upward of three decades as a justice of the peace and a few weeks ago the members of the board motored to the Nelson home and held a session, the venerable justice being unable to reach here. He had been in failing health a long time. Mr. Nelson, who was born August 27, 1848, in this town, had always retained his residence in his native town, covering a period of more than 72 years, and for fully a quarter of a century had lived at Selkirk. When a young man he followed farming and then sailed the Great Lakes a number of years. Later he was with the life saving station at Cleveland, Ohio. In 1904 he was raised in Pulaski Lodge, No. 415, F. & A. M. He was the last member of a family of 12 children and surviving him, besides his widow, are two sons, Captain Albert D. Nelson of the coast guard service stationed at Youngstown, Ohio, and Charles W. Nelson of Selkirk. Funeral services will be held at the house Tuesday at 2 p.m., at which Rev. Charles T. Holcomb, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal church of Pulaski, will officiate and the burial service will be conducted by the local Masonic lodge. Interment will be made in Daysville cemetery.
