Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, December 11, 1947 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Mrs. Nellie Curtiss Dies in Florida - Mrs. Nellie Curtiss, 75, widow of the late Jarvis D. Curtiss of the former Curtiss Bros. enterprise in Richland, died Tuesday morning in Lakeland, Florida where she had spent the winters for the last 12 years. She suffered a stroke from a cerebral hemorrhage on Saturday which resulted in her death early Tuesday morning, December 9. Mrs. Curtiss was born in Boonville August 28, 1872, and was married to Jarvis D. Curtiss. Mr. Curtiss came to Richland in 1899 and with his brother, William P. Curtiss, purchased the Averill feed and lumber, business, continuing it under the name of Curtiss Bros. Mr. Curtiss died at his home September 14, 1944, having retired about 15 years ago. Mrs. Curtiss is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Anthony E. Vunk, Johnstown, and two grandchildren, Dorothy and Albert Vunk; two nephews, Burkett Curtiss, Richland, and Earle Richards, Bergen, and a niece, Mrs. Vivien VonHeinz of Hartford, Connecticut. The body will be brought to the home of Burkett Curtiss, Richland, where prayer services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 13. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ, Richland with burial in Richland cemetery.
