- Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, January 24, 1884 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - In Beloit, Wisconsin, January 17th, 1884, Dollie Grout, daughter of Mrs. Charles Stoddard, aged 20 years. Miss Grout was born in this village. She was daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Grout. Mrs. Grout, several years after her husband's death, being united in marriage to Mr. Charles Stoddard, of Beloit. The deceased will be remembered by our village readers as a sprightly little girl, bright and beautiful. From a Beloit paper we clip the following: She had been sick with typhoid fever for several weeks and had so far recovered as to be able to be out of doors a few days, but about ten days ago she suffered a relapse and for several days past has been lying in the balance between life and death, while the anxiety of her family and many friends has known no rest. Dollie was in the twenty-first year of life, and in society was the best-known and most popular of Beloit's young ladies. Two years ago she graduated from the high school.
