      Louise B. Smith, 78, of 7186 Lake Street, died Saturday morning in Fort Worth, Texas.

      She was born in Hastings on Oct. 21, 1908. She graduated from Pulaski Academy in 1925 and the Albany State Teachers College in 1929. Mrs. Smith was married to M. Robert Smith on Aug. 28, 1938. They lived all their married life in Pulaski. Mr. Smith was a herdsman for Douglaston Manor Farms. He died May 13, 1983.

      Mrs. Smith taught Latin and French at the Pulaski Academy and Central School for 33 years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of the Pulaski Congregational Church and the Pulaski Historical Society. Her great-great-grandfather, Jeremiah Angell Mathewson, was one of the original settlers of Pulaski.

      Surviving are two sons, the Rev. Dr. George L. Proctor-Smith, pastor of the Diamond Hill Methodist Church in Fort Worth, Tex., and Philip A. Smith, an assistant foreign editor at the Washington Post; four grandchildren; a brother, Angell Mathewson of Edinboro, Pa.; two nieces; one nephew.

      Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Pulaski Congregational Church, with her son, the Rev. Proctor-Smith, and the Rev. J. Paul Hudson, pastor of the Pulaski Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 7385 Park St., Pulaski.
