  • Notes
    • Phyllis Clara (Short) Charles 73, of Palmiteer Rd. Pulaski, NY., passed away February 1, 2017, surrounded by love. She fought a courageous battle with lymphoma.

Phyllis was the daughter of the late Harris and Florence Short. Phyllis is survived by her children Alan Charles, Michelle Gagnon and Dawn Rucando; grandchildren Elizabeth Gagnon, Suede Roody, River Gagnon and Isla Rucando; a daughter by choice, Beth Taplin Zayown and her husband John; her dog Amy; her ex husband Ken Charles and his sister, Marilyn (Reuben) Simmons of Washington DC.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her mother and father in-law Madeline and Albert Charles; her son in-law Thomas Gagnon Jr.; brothers Richard Short and Donald (June) Short; and her grandson Jared Banta (Frankfort, KY).

Phyllis graduated from Port Byron Central School in 1961 and Powelson Business Institute. Phyllis was an Executive Secretary with Niagara Mohawk at Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station retiring in 1994. Phyllis also owned and operated Hidden Acres Lodging since 1985. She truly loved her little piece of heaven in the woods.

Phyllis enjoyed traveling to warm beach places, fishing, snowmobiling, playing cards, foot rubs and back scratches. Fancy hats, bright colored clothing, and her Mrs. T jewelry made her smile with style.

There will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held at Hidden Acres on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at high noon!

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to BSA Troop 830 Sandy Creek and Oswego County Hospice.
