    • Mary Ann Babcock Cross - November 20, 1824 - April 18, 1906. Daughter of Oliver and Elizabeth E. Ingalls Babcock. Wife of Davis J. Cross.
Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, April 26, 1906 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Mary A. Cross was born in Worcester, Otsego County, New York, November 20, 1824 and came with her parents, Oliver and Elizabeth Ingalls Babcock to the town of Richland when a small child. She was the oldest of five children. Her childhood home was in Femwood and there she grew to womanhood. She was married to Davis J. Cross of the same place, February 29, 1844, with whom she lived for over fifty years, he having died in 1901. In girlhood she became identified with God's people and united with the Baptist Church at Femwood, of which body she was a member at the time of her death. The most active years of her life were spent at Richland, where for about seven years she was identified with the M. E. Church being one of its earliest members and much interested in its welfare. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. M Salisbury, April 18, 1906, with whom she had spent the past year. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Sarah E. Perry of Femwood, Mrs. Salisbury of Sandy Creek and one granddaughter, Mrs. H. F. Pratt of Fernwood. Her own family long ago preceded her to the spirit world. Her funeral was held April 20, 1906, Rev. Newberry officiating. Interment was made at Richland beside her husband and son.
