      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, June 22, 1947 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Herbert A. Woodruff Dies In Camden - Herbert A. Woodruff, 85, well known in Pulaski and to summer residents of Pine Grove and Selkirk beach, died Friday in the home of his nephew, John A. Litts of Camden. Although in poor health for several years he had been critically ill only a short time. He was born in Daysville to Andrew and Lydia Hungerford Woodruff and married Mattie Manwarren in 1875. They lived in Daysville for about five years after which they moved to Montana where Mr. Woodruff was employed by the Anaconda Smelter Ore Works as a carpenter. Later they returned to Pulaski where they rented summer cottages, along the lake and operated a boat livery. He also practiced his carpenter trade both in Pulaski and at the lake. Since the death of Mrs. Woodruff about 10 years ago he had lived with his nephew. He was a member of the Pulaski Methodist church. He is survived by a brother, Eddy Woodruff, Providence, Rhode Island and five nephews and two nieces. The funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday at the J. Floyd Smith funeral home in Camden. Burial was in Daysville.
