- LaVern C. Williams, Sr., 89, of Pennellville, NY passed away on Tuesday. He was born in Richland, NY and has lived in Pennellville most of his life. LaVern graduated from Phoenix High School, Class of 1952. After school, he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Japan as a Cryptographer during the Korean War. In 1966, LaVern became a member of the Painters Local # 31 where he retired in 1994 as Business Manager. His other memberships included; Callimachus Masonic Lodge # 369, Order of the Eastern Star, Phoenix American Legion Post # 65 and the VFW Phoenix Memorial Post #5540. He is predeceased by his wife, Marie E. (Brand) Williams, his parents, Manford G. and Carrie P. (Sherman) Williams, six brothers and three sisters.
Surviving is his companion, Lorraine Dunn, his children; Vern (Cindy) Williams, Jr., Linda Williams, Heidi Williams, Michael (Carol) Williams, Irene Jones, Mark (Mary) Williams and Madison (Brett) Williams, adopted daughter, Rita Godfrey, 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, his sister, Tamsie Wolfe, brother, M. Lewis (Connie) Williams, many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rt 31 Baldwinsville. A Masonic Service will take place at 3:45 pm with funeral services to follow at 4:00 pm. Burial will take place in Pine Plains Cemetery at a future date.
