Donald J. Gaffney, 80, of 8464 Henry Clay Blvd., Clay, a Watertown native, died March 12 at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, Syracuse.
Born Oct. 26, 1921, in Watertown, son of John E. and Rose A. Meyler, he graduated from Watertown High School.
Mr. Gaffney was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired in 1984 from O.M. Edwards Co., Syracuse, after 44 years.
He was a member of the 80th Division Veterans Association, president of Chapter 80 of the National Association of Civilian Conservation Corps Alumni and trustee of the Clay Historical Society.
He married Norma A. Barrisford in 1974. He had been married previously.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Kathleen LeBeau, Pulaski; a son, Michael, Pulaski; a stepdaughter, Suzanne Johnson, Clay; a stepson, Michael Barrisford, Cicero; a sister, Marie Boyle, Liverpool; two brothers, John, Massena, and Ambrose, Watertown, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were with Sears- Middleton-Jones Funeral Home, North Syracuse. Burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay.
