  • Notes
    • Charles's father was killed in the well known explosion at Yerdon's Mill in Greenboro, October 29, 1929 (the day wall street fell !). Young Charles was raised by his widowed Mother, whom he was devoted to. At the outbreak of World War II Charles was called up to service in the Pacific Theater. His sons have recounted some of the few experiences that the normally quiet Charles imparted to them. Upon his return home, Charles worked for a while in the woods and also on the family farm. In 1948 he married Doris Burmingham, living for a short time in the Redfield area.
In the early 1950s Charles and his family relocated to eastern Massachusetts where there were more job opportunities. Charles worked many long days to keep the family going. In the summer he would take the family to Greenboro to help work around his mothers farm.
Charles is remembered for his hard work and dedication to keeping his family together and well provided for. He was a third cousin to Ira Warren through the Clemons family.
Following his death Charles was buried in his native Greenboro.
