- Newspaper Obituary - October 29, 1999 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - MARY A. MEAGHER BUSINESS OWNER - Mary A. Meagher, Elm Street, Camden, formerly of Orwell, died Tuesday, her 88th birthday, at her home. She and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm in Florence. She also owned and operated Meagher Gravel Bed, Florence, for 30 years before selling it to her grandson, Rich Meagher, in 1996. Born Oct. 26, 1911, in Orwell, daughter of William and Edith Ouderkirk, she lived in Camden for 30 years. She married Joseph F. Meagher on June 5, 1929, in Camden. He died Dec. 7, 1965. She was a communicant of St. John's Church, Camden. She cared for many foster children and was a member of the foster grandparent program at Camden Middle School for 13 years. Surviving are five daughters and three sons-in-law, Marie and Charles Wirth, East Hartland, Phila Burns, Osceola, Pauline Mitchell and Nancy and Morgan Comins, all of Camden, and Margaret and Ronald Owens, Rome; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Suzanne Meagher and James and Beverly Meagher, all of Camden; four sisters, Viola Mowers and Wilamena White, both of Orwell, Jane Wheeler, Altmar, and Rose Peck, Kasoag; two brothers, Faye Britton, Chittenango, and Robert Britton, Ocala, Fla.; 32 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Church. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Camden. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today at Sanborn- McDaniels & LaRobardiere Funeral Home, 100 Main St., Camden.
