    • Newspaper Obituary - May 26, 1910 Sandy Creek News - Mrs. Cynthia Hale - Mrs. Cynthia A. Widrig, wife of Darius Hale,, died at her home Saturday, May 14 and was buried Tuesday, May 17. Mrs. Hale was one of eleven children born to Lawrence and Elizabeth Widrig. She was born in Schuyler, Herkimer county, November 17, 1830. The family came to Sandy Creek when she was seven years of age and purchased what was then, known as the Asa Wallace farm south of the village on the Pulaski road, now owned by Fred Lillis. She was married to Darius Hale, August 28, 1851. They have spent their married life, nearly fifty-nine years on the farm which Mr. Hale owned at that time, but which is now owned by Charles Jamerson, they having lived in one part of the house since he purchased it. To them were born two daughters, Cora, who died in infancy fifty years ago and Hattie, wife of Wilbur Jamerson. Beside the husband who is left so lonely, there survive Mrs. Jamerson, two grandsons, W.D. and C.W. Jamerson, two brothers, Henry Widrig of Sandy Creek and Peter of Michigan; one sister, Mrs. Eliza Rowley of Utica, a step-sister, Mrs. Abbey Shultz of Syracuse and a number of nieces and nephews. Of the brothers, and sisters who have gone before her were: Philo and William, Mrs. Sarah Trumbull, Mrs. Eliza Walrath, Mrs. Lovina Upton, Mrs. Harriette Munderback and Miss Mary Widrig. Her funeral was largely attended, Rev. Hydon officiating. She had been a member of the M.E. church of Sandy Creek more than fifty years, but on account of poor health she had not been able to attend church very often. The male quartette rendered "Rock of Ages" and "Jesus Saviour Pilot Me". She was laid to rest in the family plot in Woodlawn.
