Newspaper Obituary - Saturday, November 3, 1973 The Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Pulaski - Robert E. Balcom, 82, of 7549 Delano Street, Pulaski, died this morning at the House of the Good Samaritan in Watertown. Born on March 15, 1891 in Redfield, he was the son of Evans and Ella Fox Balcom. He attended Redfield schools and was employed with the New York City Fire Department, prior to his return to Pulaski in 1919. He was employed with the New York Central Railroad, retiring in 1956. Mr. Balcom was married on December 25, 1932 to the former Zelthia McNett in Pulaski. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and avestryman there for many years. He was a member of the Pulaski IOOF Lodge. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Arthur of Greenlong, Long Island and Alvin of Kenne, New Hampshire; seven grandchildren and three brothers, Charles, Roland and Vann Balcom of Pulaski. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Richard Play officiating. Burial will be in the South Richland Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Those wishing may make contributions to the St. John's Episcopal Church Rug Fund.
