    • Newspaper Obituary - (Source Unknown) - Vaughn Robert McGrath, 62, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2012 in Marblehead. Vaughn was born in Syracuse, N.Y., on Jan. 27, 1950 to Eugene and Edith Stewart McGrath. He grew up in the Eastwood neighborhood and graduated from Henniger High in 1969. After high school, Vaughn attended The Art Institute of Boston as well as Boston University. He enjoyed a career in Web and Graphic Design and Illustration and ran his own business McGrathics for 30 years. Vaughn is survived by his brother, Stewart McGrath (wife Patricia) from Anderson, S.C and two sisters, Cynthia Wodrich (husband Kenneth) and Wendy Mouille (husband Michael), both from Sonoma, CA. There are two nieces, Nicole Roberts and Caitlin Mouille and one nephew, Thomas Joseph Rooney. He was also loved by two grand nephews, Thomas Joseph Rooney Jr. and Noah Tomas Rooney. Vaughn was preceded in death by Eugene and Edith McGrath and his niece, Heather Travers. He was an avid ocean sailor and sailboat owner, glider pilot, artist, cabinetmaker and stain glass designer. He completed the requirements to achieve his U.S. Merchant Marine Captain's license in 2008. His interests were in antiques, American Flyer trains & antique toys, history, and automobile and yacht racing. Vaughn had a wonderful sense of humor and kindness that will be truly missed. He was a great story teller and enjoyed many wonderful hours of life long friendships with both family and friends. A memorial gathering will take place this Friday June 1st at , 81 Front Street in Marblehead at 6:30 p.m.
