Frances Edith McChesney Nichols, 94, Springbrook Apartments, Pulaski, former teacher in Sandy Creek, died Wednesday at her home.
Mrs. Nichols was a teacher in Hudson, Pulaski and Sandy Creek for 16 years. She was also a social worker at several hospitals for 20 years.
Born Aug. 29, 1905, in Avon, Conn., a daughter of F. Earl and Ruth Austin McChesney, she was a 1921 graduate of Pulaski Academy High School and received a bachelor's degree in 1925 from Syracuse University. She served in the Army censorship department during World War II.
She married Christopher Nichols on June 19, 1950, in Ithaca. Mr. Nichols died Sept. 18, 1956. Mrs. Nichols returned to Pulaski in 1972.
Mrs. Nichols was a member of Pulaski Congregational Church, Women's Pilgrims Guild, and the Tuesday Study Club, Civic Club, Historical Society and Daughters of the American Revolution, all in Pulaski.
Surviving are two brothers, William McChesney, San Jose, Calif., and Dr. Hugh McChesney, Pulaski; a sister, Lillian Kemp, Pulaski; and a stepson, Nicholas Nichols, Valois.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski. Spring burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
