      Well-known Physician Stricken With Apoplexy at Age of 59.

      PULASKI. April 18-Dr. George William Betts, 59, died at 2:25 o'clock this afternoon at the family home at Lake and Broad streets. He was stricken with apoplexy last evening and had remained in an unconscious condition since.

      Dr. Betts was born in this village October 4, 1858, the son of Dr. James N. Betts, a prominent physician, who died in 1892.

      G. W. Betts, M. D., began practice in Pulaski in 1880 having on February 17 of that year been graduated at the University of the City of New York and termiuating a two years' course of medicine in that institution. Completing his education at Pulaski Academy, he took a course at Ann Arbor, Michigan going thence to New York City to complete his medical education. Following a graduate course he returned to Pulaski and commenced practice with his father until he died in 1892.

      Dr. Betts was earnestly active in all public movements that concerned the interests of the village. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and of the Oswego County Medical Society. The Citizens' Club, the leading social organization of Pulaski business men, was an institution in the welfare of which he was largely interested, and which was successfully directed by him as its president. Dr. Betts was for many years senior warden of James's Episcopal Church.

      In 1881 he married Miss Cora Clark who died in January 1896 and in 1901 married Miss Frances Chapman Richardson. Surviving besides the widow are two brothers; Albert F. and James H. Betts, both of Pulaski.

      Private funeral services will be held at the family home at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Friends may call from 11 o'clock Saturday morning. Burial will be in the Pulaski Cemetery.
