- February 27, 2012 David F. Weisenburger, age 80, of Rome, passed away February 27, 2012, from complications of Leukemia. He was born November 26, 1931, in Pulaski, a son of Alfred and Mabel Fox Weisenburger. David married Lena (Nancy) Neill on June 30, 1951, in Sandy Creek. He taught Industrial Arts and substitute taught at Rome Free Academy, retiring after 50+ years of service. David is survived by his wife Nancy; a daughter and three sons. Funeral services with military honors will be held Saturday at 9:45 a.m. from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery, in the spring. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Friday 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family request contributions in memory of David, may be made to Rome Humane Society or Rome Elks Renovation Fund. Pulaski Democrat, 18 Mar 1954: SGT. WEISENBURGER, IN KOREA, TO RETURN SOON Seoul, Korea-- Sgt. David F. Weisenburger, 22, whose wife, Nancy, lives in Pulaski NY, will return to the U. S. with the 45th "Thunderbird" Infantry Division sometime in April. Weisenburger, a unit administrator in Company F of the 179th Regiment, is one of 1,000 combat veterans of the former Oklahoma National Guard Division who will dock in New York harbor. The sergeant, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Weisenburger, Lacona, entered the Army in August 1952 and arrived overseas seven months later. He holds the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Korean Presidential Unit Citation Badge...
Pulaski Democrat, 28 Jan 1960: ACCEPTS POSITION David Weisenburger, a January 1960 graduate of the State University College of Education at Oswego with a B.S. degree in Industrial Arts Education, has accepted a position in the Rome Free Academy for this semester teaching driver education.
