- Myles A. Meers, 58, of Coudersport died Monday (April 19, 2004) at his home.
Born July 28, 1945, in Chardon, OH, he was the son of Myles Benedum and Virginia Willett. On Feb. 11, 1976, he married Loretta J. Furman, who survives.
Mr. Meers had lived in the Coudersport area for the past 13 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the U.S. Navy. He was Deputy Sheriff of Orange County, CA, retiring after 26 years of faithful service. He was a member of the American Legion Potter Post 192 and a charter member of the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Virginia Meers of Pittsburgh and Carol Kottwitz of Coudersport; two sons, Alan and Richard Meers; and two grandsons, Darius Kottwitz and Corwin Kottwitz.
Friends may call at the Fickinger Funeral Home, a Life Celebration Home, on Thursday (April 22, 2004) from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at which time funeral services will be held. Burial will be in Eulalia Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by members of the Potter County Honor Guard.
