    • Mrs. Edith Squires Schumaker, 56, wife of Earl Schumaker, died Saturday night, October 27, 1956 in Massena hospital following an operation. Mr. and Mrs. Schumaker resided at Smartville until about six months ago when they moved to the Massena area where Mr. Schumaker is employed on the St. Lawrence Seaway project. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 at the Weston and Woodard funeral home in Sandy Creek, with Rev. Leland Webster, pastor of Sandy Creek Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in Lyman cemetery at East Fierrepont. Mrs. Schumaker was born November 29, 1899 in Fairvale, Mich., where she spent her early life. Besides her husband, Mrs Schumaker is survived by nine daughters, Mrs. June Stoehr, Miami, Fla.; Mrs. Isabelle Pysinski, Syracuse; Mrs. Beverly Hall, Massena; Mrs. Jean Navarra, Watertown; Mrs. Joan Clark, Syracuse; Mrs. Phyllis Warren, Massena; Mrs. Donna Remington, Ellisburg; Mrs. Joseph Marcellus, Niagara Falls; three sons, Lloyd and Gordon Schumaker, Massena, and Pfc. Burton Schumaker, with the army in Germany; her mother, Mrs. Mary Squires, Altmar. She also leaves a brother, Earl Squires and five sisters, Mrs, Thelma Warner, Sandy Creek; Mrs. Mildred Graham, Mrs. Mamie Engle, Mrs. Hazel Cole and Mrs Cecilia Smith.
