Roman Dies In His Home At Age of 83
Clarence O. Dingman, 405 N. Madison St., died at his home yesterday afternoon after having been in failing health for several years.
He was born in Lee Center on March 19, 1879, son of Cornelius and Lucinda Spencer Dingman. He was educated in the Lee Center school.
He was married to Pearl E. Shaver in Utica on Sept. 2, 1907 by Rev. Dana Bigelow, minister of the Westminister Presbyterian Church. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Rome.
In July of 1953 he retired as a machinist from the Revere where he had been employed for 37 yrs.
He was a member of Rome Lodge IOOF.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Harmon D. (Marion) Smith Sr., Rome, one son Henry S. Dingman, Rome, and four grandchildren, Kathleen, Ann, William and Carey Smith.
Funeral will be held at the Teller Funeral Home on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Charles LePorte associate minister of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be made in the Evergreen Cemetery, Stokes.
