    • Robert F. Vrooman, better known as “Bob”, born in Brownville, NY on October 29, 1927 to Emory and Clara VanOrnum Vrooman, passed on November 25, 2015 at age 88. His wife of 66 years, married on April 5, 1949, Arlene R. (Fravor) Vrooman, born in Pulaski, NY on April 5, 1926 to George and Lena Frye Fravor, passed on December 1, 2015 at age 89. They are survived by three daughters, seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Mr. Vrooman served as Petty Officer Class 3 in the US Navy; active duty from 1952-1954 and US Navy Reservist from 1954-1956. Between August 1959 and August 1989, they owned and operated Vrooman’s Tire and Road Service, Inc. in Adams, NY (a Goodyear Tire dealership), where his green service truck was very well known throughout the North Country, central and southwestern regions of the state. They were active member of the American Legion in Adams, NY and participated in many community events, donating both time and resources. After their retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Vrooman relocated to Zephyrhills, FL where they were active members of the Elks Lodge and Mr. Vrooman was an officer. They organized events for local veterans, blood donation drives, and distribution of food donations to shelters and various charity centers. Mr. and Mrs. Vrooman also actively supported the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, donating both time and resources. Mr. Vrooman received special recognition for having personally donated 9 gallons of blood and he also served many years as Poll Deputy during all elections held in Zephyrhills, FL. A memorial service for Robert and Arlene will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, Dec 13, 2015 at Hodges Family Funeral Home 36327 SR 54, Zephyrhills, FL 33541, they will be laid to rest side by side at Chapel Hill Gardens.
