George M. Nelson, 77, Fulton, father of two area residents, died Tuesday in Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton. Burial will be in Mount Adnah Cemetery.
Calling hours were scheduled from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Surviving are his wife, Edna R.; four sons, George Jr., Sandy Creek, William, Granby, and Raymond and Frank, both of Fulton; two daughters, Frances Nelson, Granby, and Caroline Warren, Mexico; three stepsons, David Dunn, Syracuse, Thomas Dunn, Central Square, and James Dunn, Liverpool; a sister, Violet Kruger, Williamson; a half-sister, Helen Hayes, Syracuse; a half-brother, Rondo Yacatta, Fulton; 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Born Dec. 18, 1912, in Rochester, the son of Martin and Almina Hibbard Nelson, he resided most of his life in Fulton. He retired in 1976 after 30 years of service with Armstrong World Industries, Fulton, and was previously a weaver with American Woolen Mill, Fulton.
An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Nelson was a member of the Oswego American Legion Post 268.
Mr. Nelson was a life member of the Fulton Elks Lodge 830, and was the recipient of its 1984-1985 Member of the Year Award. He was also a member of Sandy Creek Grange 127.
