WEEDSPORT - Donald A. Ridgeway, 75, of 8581 Weedsport-Sennett Road, Weedsport, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Auburn Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Ridgeway was born on March 30, 1930, in Boylston. He was the son of Clarence and Emma Barber Ridgeway. He was a proud veteran of the Navy, having served his country during the Korean War Era. For many years, he worked with the Carpenter's Local 747 of Onondaga County. Carpenter's Local 747 carried special meaning for him, as his father, uncle, brothers and other family members were also brother union members of Local 747.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and a member of the American Legion Post 317 of Skaneateles Falls. An avid bowler, he was a charter member of Rainbow Lanes.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Reed Ridgeway; one daughter, Sharon Lowenberg and her husband, Victor, of Ramrod Key, Fla.; two sons, Michael Ridgeway and his wife, Doreen, of Auburn, David Ridgeway and his wife, Kathy, of Brentwood; one brother, Leland "Bud" Ridgeway and his wife, Doris, of Mattydale; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several nieces, nephews and close friends.
Mr. Ridgeway was predeceased by his two sisters, June Melfie and Ann Nugent; two brothers, Dale and Delbert Ridgeway.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Church. Burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Weedsport. Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, April 19, at White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Drive, Weedsport.
